Capital Flight was founded in 2013 by the Hofeldt family. Our mission is to provide the aviation community with re-imagined services and flight training they need and deserve.
We are members of NBAA, AOPA and EAA. Capital Flight supports and is dedicated to sharing and preserving the privilege of flight.
You have not seen the fearless leader without a Capital Flight hat on, seriously. Matt stepped away from an almost 20 year career in insurance and regulatory compliance to pursue a passion in aviation. He can often be found flying the big tire Husky's or his 1946 J3. Friendships through the business of aviation is his goal, surprising and delighting clients, his motto.
The most interesting man in the world! Rick is Capital Flight’s head CSIP. He has been known to utter "CAPS available" in his sleep. An ATP, CFI, CFII, MEI and Cirrus Standardized Instructor he doesn't always fly right seat, but when he does he prefers the SR. As a SR22 owner himself, who best to show you the ropes of these amazing machines. When not flying, Rick can be found tending to his hobby farm, spending time with his grand kids and memorizing Cirrus POH’s.
If they issued 5 bar epaulettes Dan would have them. This UW Badger with over 5,000 hours has some serious aviation street cred. An A&P, ATP, CFI, CFII, MEI, Cirrus Training Center and Seaplane Instructor, if it has wings, Dan can fly it... and better yet, can teach you as well! A passionate multi-time aircraft builder, fryer of brats and dance floor staple, Dan is truly the man.
With over 4,000 hours total time (of which more than half is dual given flight instruction), Kammi is available to take you from zero to hero in the Cirrus. Whether you are just starting out, transitioning into the Cirrus or looking to add a commercial or instrument rating, Kammi can help. A native of Annapolis, Maryland, Kammi is a CFI, CFII, Multi-Engine rated pilot, and also tail wheel endorsed. Having spent time instucting in Oregon, Kammi has mountain flying experience and is the perfect choice to take on that long x-country as a mentor pilot. When she's not flying, Kammi can be found spending time with her Labradoodle Katie, hiking, reading or putting her 34 year experience as a veterinary nurse to work.
Josh splits his times between instructing at Capital Flight and as a First Officer for SkyWest Airlines, so you could say he truly is Mr. Right (seat that is). Josh specializes in Capital Flights accelerated instrument trips of a lifetime. Traveling all around the country training in multiple conditions and having a blast along the way with our students. Josh enjoys volunteering his time flying pilots and paws missions and has been known to adopt and give homes to a few Whiskey Old Fashions as well. An ATP, CFII,MEI committed to safe and confident flight ops he is the perfect choice to help make your pilot aspirations come true.
The Godfather of Capital Flight. Jim is our in house DPE and all knower of the FAR/AIM. A former airline captain with every rating on the books. Jim is impassioned by safe flight ops and even mixes in a little tailwheel flying from time to time.
A Wisconsin Native, Tim spent 4 years serving in the US Army, followed by time at UW Platteville before taking a job with the US Postal Service. Retirement at the end of 2017 was well deserved after giving 39 years of service. Married to his fourth grade sweetheart, Tim and his wife have 3 children Dustin, Beau & Samantha. When not at the hangar, Tim plans to spend his retirement enjoy his three f’s; family, fishing and family. Tim is Capital Flight's facility manager and does a fantastic job at making us look good!
